The Hub

The Woodchurch Hub provides a central resource to the community in and around Woodchurch. It is a Not-For-Profit company (CIC) that is managed and operated entirely by volunteers. It is primarily funded through the advertising in the Community Newsletter and through donations and grants. Located in the Memorial Hall car park and overlooking Woodchurch village green, we are centrally placed within the village and so offer an ideal meeting point for visitors to the village.

We are open every weekday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm where we offer a range of services to residents, clubs and societies, local businesses and visiting tourists. We also manage the village’s public toilet.
If you are looking for general information around the local villages, looking for interesting places to take your visitors, need to find the latest bus timetables, contact the Parish Council or simply want to come for a chat and a cup of coffee then you are welcome.

We offer a range of services, which will continue to expand further over time

  • Village information centre
  • Local Tourist Information
  • Community Calendar
  • Club/society event promotion
  • Printing, photocopying and document laminating
  • Ticket box office for local productions and events

  • Social Prescriber surgery
    Citizens Advice surgery

The Hub History

Originally the whole of The Hub building was an underutilised public toilet for the village that was funded by Ashford Borough Council. Following a period of central funding cuts the grants providing for local public toilets were withdrawn and local toilet facilities were then required to be funded by the local Parish Councils, or close. In April 2013 a group within the village (headed up by Rob Woods – who was a Parish Councillor at that time) saw an opportunity to re-purpose the building and create a central resource within the village. The initial aim of the Community Information Centre was to support local businesses and to help support and maintain a vibrant, thriving, rural community. The focus then, as it still remains today, was Think Local – Buy Local. More recently the centre has become The Woodchurch Hub and its aims have been extended to provide a wider range of services to the whole community.
Although originally funded through Membership, we now rely on local Sponsorship and donations to help keep The Hub open. If you would like to become a Hub sponsor then please contact us.

The HUB Objects

Over time, the services that The HUB has provided have evolved to better serve the needs of the Woodchurch community. In August 2024 the registered name was formally updated to “Woodchurch HUB CIC” (from its original registered name “Woodchurch Community Information Exchange CIC”) to better reflect the name by which it has been known locally since 2019. In August 2024 the HUBs Articles of Association were also reviewed by the directors and updated to better reflect the support we provide to the community.

The updated HUB “Objects”

The objects of the Company are to carry on activities which benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) to Woodchurch, Kent.

  • To provide a communication centre for Clubs, Societies, businesses and other organisations within the area of benefit.
  • To be the reference point to facilitate and coordinate projects, schemes and operations of whatever nature for the community, including encouraging and supporting local charities and other organisations with charitable objects, promoting local social groups, clubs and societies, promote tourism, leisure activities and local business.
  • To provide services and encourage networks that will help individuals, families, groups and enterprises within the local community.
  • To enhance community participation and wellbeing.
  • To carry out any other activities which the Board considers for the benefit of the community.

The full Articles of Association can be found here and a copy is available for view in The HUB
